The Rhode Island Rams are getting ready to show the rest of the United States that they are for real. With wins against Providence, South Florida and Syracuse (At Syracuse!) they have already proven that you have better be ready to play when they come to town. Though they already had respect in the Atlantic 10, having being picked to finish second, the Rams may be the best team in New England right now.

New England is not to be confused with other regions of the country in terms of basketball. The mainstays have been UConn, Providence, Boston College and at times UMass. The Rams are the only ranked team from New England in the top 25 (23). So this is an exciting time for URI and has brought some excitement back after the Jim Harrick and Lamar Odom (One Year) horror show.

The Rams have two Connecticut players contributing. Lamonte Ulmer of Hamden. A 6 foot 6 inch dunking machine and Keith Cothran, a smooth guard from Hillhouse in New Haven. They also have a potential NBA player in Will Daniels and Jimmy Baron, the coaches son, making major contributions. Daniels at 18 ppg and 7.3 boards. Baron at 15.7 ppg with 52 threes at guard.

Will they match the sweet 16 of the Ken Geene, Silk Owens and Tom Garrick (Now the Women's coach at URI). Next few months will tell but right now, according to the current poll, URI is the best team in New England.
