Crosby, Penguins Fall Short of Goal.
The Detroit Red Wings are the 2008 Stanley Cup Champions, and it is well deserved. They won the best of 7 games with a final of 4-2. Pittsburg got off to a bad start losing the first two games of the series in Detroit and then having to play catch-up the rest of the way. The Red Wings who dominated the regular season showed no signs of slowing down in the final with all players contributing. Henrik Zetterberg (of Detroit) won the con-smyth trophy as the MVP of the playoffs. With all that he had done, that was a "no brainer" It was a tough loss though as the Penguins who also had a great run in the playoffs were just not the better of the two teams. Detroit made sure that when "Sid the kid" was on the ice they had two or more players on him which worked in shutting their star player down. They knew that giving him time and space to work his magic can be very dangerous. Still, they played their hearts out and through injuries, nerves, fatigue and always believing in themselves they left nothing on the table. They will have the summer to rest and regroup for next year, when I'm sure they will once again be a contender.
